Psychologists have in fact discovered that just a view of natural environments, especially parklands or savannas, generally leads to a decline in moods of fear or anger, and it generates an overall feeling of tranquility.

Postsurgical patients who were allowed to look out at trees, recovered more quickly and reported less need for pain and anxiety medication than those treated otherwise identically but whose view was the walls of the buildings. In parallel manner, prisoners in cells given a view of adjacent farmland had a lower sick-call rate than those confined in the same way but with a view of the prison courtyard.

Similarly, business employees reported fewer feelings of stress and greater job satisfaction when their outside view was a natural environment.
